Gas Prices

Has anyone noticed the recent drop in gas prices? Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining but have you ever wondered how two months ago we were paying two dollars more a gallon? On Friday, it just came out that once again oil companies received a HUGE profit even during this recession. There are some obvious problems with this picture, and I think the government needs to step in and take a look at what we can do to stabilize the gas prices.

The first discipline that needs to be placed into affect for gas prices, is economics. When every other area of business is failing and oil companies are booming in profit our government needs to take control. The gas we are getting from overseas is becoming too expensive for our economy to purchase. We are so reliant on the gas from other countries they use that as a leverage for our country. We need oil, so they can continue to raise prices because no matter how high they are people will continue to drive their cars. Gas prices affect our economy in so many ways; airline tickets, bus fairs, car dealerships, etc. The government needs to start digging in our country in order to help fix the economy. If we were to find oil in our own country we would have lower gas prices, lower airline tickets, etc. but too many people are worried about our trees. The economy is suffering because of gas prices.

The other discipline that gas prices utilize is psychology. The gas prices are a mind game for the people. Why is it that gas prices change per season? The oil does not get any richer or better during the summer where every year the gas prices increase like crazy during the summer months. Then the companies try to lower gas prices to help us during the holiday time. The gas companies have us in such a mind game that American people are excited to pay $3.00 a gallon, as if that is any good. The oil companies are continuing to make enormous amounts of profit due to this psychology mind game they have the American people in.

The last discipline that is needs to take place to fix our gas prices is an obvious one, finance. The financial world is suffering more than ever right now, but what is the one line of business where they are making 15 million in profit each quarter? Oil companies. Does that not ring a bell to anyone? The finance of the oil executives are getting way to much money in profit during this recession. Some kind of research needs to be done to fix this. Obviously, there is some hidden truths about how the oil companies are making so much money and we need to get to the bottom of it.

Personally, I think that gas prices are just a game that oil companies like to play with us. Think about it, two months ago we were averaging $4.15 a gallon, now it is about $2.60 what has changed? I think a lot of this has to do with the election; oil companies want people to be happy with the outcome of the election so they drop gas prices. Its all a mind game, but they don't fool me.
